In 2018, a record-breaking storm hit the Florida Panhandle, causing billions of dollars of damage and widespread destruction. Hurricane Michael made landfall as a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of over 160 miles per hour and dropped over 10 inches of rain. It was the fourth-strongest hurricane ever recorded in the United States. One of the properties hit the hardest was the Hiland Park Baptist Church. Royal Restoration was one of the first responders on the scene.
Over 85% of the 94,000-square-foot structure had been severely damaged. The roof was almost completely torn off, windows were broken, and debris covered the premises. The structural damage was catastrophic, and flooding was compounding the issues. The inside of the church, including the nursery, sanctuary, classrooms, and hallways, was completely inundated with water damage. Royal Restoration staged a massive emergency response effort, alongside the Red Cross, aimed at fully restoring the church and its contents.
